Low Cost Counselling
We are very aware that counselling can be beyond the means of many people. To answer this need, EICP have introduced a Low Cost Counselling scheme.
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute (CPTI), our sister organisation, offers Low Cost Counselling provided by trainees who have reached the level of competence to practice. All counsellors working in this scheme have been endorsed to practise by their CPTI trainer and a qualified supervisor. They have already worked with clients, are insured and are in regular supervision.
This co-operative partnership with CPTI allows us to offer Low Cost Counselling to a high standard with the appropriate level of support and professional supervision. The service is available to anyone who is low waged, unemployed or in difficult financial circumstances.
If you are interested in this service, please contact our reception. You will be offered an assessment session at an agreed time at no charge. The purpose of the assessment is for you to decide whether you wish to work with the counsellor and for the counsellor to ensure that they have the resources to work with the issues raised. Should the latter not be the case, they will offer to refer you to a counsellor with more relevant experience.
We expect that this service will make counselling more readily available.
Referrals
You can refer yourself for this service by phoning our reception on 0131 667 5251. We also accept referrals from doctors, social services and other agencies.
Duration & Cost
The initial working contract, decided at the assessment session, is usually for six sessions. At the end of this period you and the counsellor can agree to continue the work as appropriate.
The Low Cost Counselling fee is £25 per session. This can be negotiated to a minimum of £18 by agreement between the counsellor and the client.
