Making an appointment
To make an appointment for an assessment session, please telephone the EICP reception on 0131 667 5251 and indicate the times you are available. If you are eligible for the Low Cost Counselling service, please advise the reception staff.

To obtain appointment as soon as possible it will be helpful if are you as flexible as possible over the times you can attend. Please note that reception staff will not ask the reasons for your coming to counselling or psychotherapy. However, you may want to express a preference for an older or younger counsellor and you are welcome to provide any information you consider relevant.

When you have agreed an appointment, the time and date and the name of the counsellor will be confirmed to you in a letter. Please ensure you keep the agreed appointment. If for any reason you are forced to cancel or postpone your appointment, please notify reception with as much notice as possible.

There is no charge for an assessment session, which will usually last about 30 minutes, possibly longer for a couple. There is no obligation to undertake further work. The purpose of the assessment session is for you and your therapist to decide whether to work together.

Agreement to undertake counselling or psychotherapy is by the mutual agreement of you and the therapist and further appointments and the fees can be agreed at the assessment session.
